The Warrior Games is a “Paralympic-style competition for wounded, ill and injured active-duty service members and veterans, the Warrior Games are organized by the Department of Defense. Featuring over 260 athletes, the Games will be a fantastic celebration of our courageous service members and veterans”.

1. Most events are free and open to the public

“Two weeks of competition begins June 30 at McCormick Place with shooting, sitting volleyball and wheelchair basketball.”

 


July 1 2017 Concert in Chicago for Wounded Warriors2. The Opening Ceremonies and Concert will be held at Soldier Field, featuring Blake Shelton & Kelly Clarkson, with Jon Stewart as host

“Talk about star-studded! The Opening Ceremony and Concert will begin at 7pm, with Grammy Award-winning artists Blake Shelton and Kelly Clarkson putting on a full concert with 60-minute performances each, with Jon Stewart as host.

 


Fisher House Foundation and Warrior Games 2017 in Chicago3. This is the first year the Warrior Games will be held entirely outside of a military installation or U.S. Olympic Committee facility

“These Warrior Games will be historic — the U.S. Navy in partnership with the City of Chicago are hosting the Games, marking the first time the competition will be held as a city-wide event and setting the bar for future Warrior Games.”


4. The Warrior Games are family-oriented, with a special Family Day on Independence Day

Independence Day in Chicago is always a great time for families, and with special events taking place throughout the city on the Warrior Games Family Day, there is even more reason to celebrate downtown.


5. Support our service members and veterans

The Warrior Games were created in 2010 to help wounded, ill and injured service members and veterans overcome significant injuries and illnesses through participation in Paralympic-style sports.
